Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Sacred Heart of Jesus walked away with it. They had just enough and edged out the San Jacinto Valley Academy Wolves  9-7. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest  victory the Comets have posted  since April 3rd.
 Alina Valenzuela made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound,   tossing seven innings while giving up  three earned  (and four unearned) runs off   14  hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't  given up  more than two  walks in 13 consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box,  going 3-for-4 with one  RBI.
 In other batting news, Sacred Heart of Jesus let  Melania Saborio and  Trinity Godson run wild. Saborio  went 3-for-4 with two  runs, one  triple,  and one  stolen base, while  Godson  went a perfect 4-for-4 with two  stolen bases, two  runs,  and one  RBI. That's the most  hits  Godson has posted since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of  Genesis Gutierrez, who  went 2-for-3 with one  stolen base, one  run,  and one  RBI.
Sacred Heart of Jesus has  been performing  incredibly well recently as they've  won 14 of their last 15 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-8 record  this season. Those  wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.4 runs on average over those games. As for San Jacinto Valley Academy,  this is the second loss in a row for them and  nudges their season record down to 14-10.
As of now, neither Sacred Heart of Jesus nor the Wolves have any future games scheduled.
