The Churubusco Eagles's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their seventh straight loss. They fell just short of West Noble by a score of 34-31. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat Churubusco has suffered yet this season.
Despite the loss, Churubusco still got an impressive performance from Brooklyn Sinclair, who scored 21 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Sinclair has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Alyssa Eby, who scored four points along with seven rebounds.
Even though they lost, Churubusco smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as West Noble only pulled down seven offensive rebounds.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead West Noble to victory, but perhaps none more so than Alayna C delong, who scored 14 points along with six rebounds and two blocks. Another player making a difference was Alexia Mast, who scored 11 points along with six rebounds and five steals.
Churubusco has been struggling recently, as they've lost eight of their last nine games, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-14 record this season. As for West Noble, their win bumped their record up to 2-16.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Churubusco's road trip will continue as they head out to face Lakeland at 7:00 p.m. on January 16th. Hopefully Lakeland focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 17 on Thursday. As for West Noble, they will head out on the road to face off against Eastside at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The timing is sure in Eastside's favor as the team sits on nine straight wins at home while West Noble has been banged up by five consecutive losses on the road.
