Marine Leadership Academy came out on top against Phoenix Military on Thursday thanks in part to the team's impressive nine-run first inning. The Bulldogs blew past the Firebirds 11-1. The Bulldogs might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six matchups by eight runs or more this season.

The team relied heavily on Damien O'Malley, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and two doubles. Those doubles marked the first that he has hit this season. Another player making a difference was Leandro Padilla, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.

Marine Leadership Academy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .545. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .500 or higher in three consecutive games.

Marine Leadership Academy pushed their record up to 7-1-1 with the win, which was their ninth straight on the road dating back to last season. Those road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.4 runs on average this season. As for Phoenix Military, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-9-1 record this season.

Marine Leadership Academy does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Phoenix Military, they will head out to challenge Hansberry at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
