Basketball Game Preview: Valiant Cross Academy Warriors vs. Evangel Christian Academy Lions

Having just played yesterday, the Valiant Cross Academy Warriors will head out on the road to face off against the Evangel Christian Academy Lions at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Valiant Cross Academy will be looking to extend their current seven-game winning streak.

On Monday, Valiant Cross Academy blew past Lowndes Academy, posting a 66-34 win. The Warriors have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 15 games by 21 points or more this season.

Valiant Cross Academy can attribute much of their success to Deshawn Hall, who dropped a double-double on 24 points and 12 boards, and Jordan Archie, who went 8 of 12 on his way to 18 points in addition to six rebounds and three steals. Hall has been hot for a while, having posted eight or more rebounds the last 48 times he's played. Another player making a difference was John Cosby, who posted seven points along with five boards and three steals.

Meanwhile, Evangel Christian Academy earned a 53-42 victory over Fort Dale Academy on Thursday. Given the Lions' advantage in MaxPreps' Alabama basketball rankings (they are ranked 76th, while the Eagles are ranked 256th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Valiant Cross Academy's win was their 15th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 22-1. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 70.5 points per game. As for Evangel Christian Academy, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 15-4.

Valiant Cross Academy beat Evangel Christian Academy 71-59 when the teams last played on January 2nd. The rematch might be a little tougher for Valiant Cross Academy since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
