Last Tuesday, Dorchester Academy suffered a tough 59-34 loss at the hands of Cathedral Academy.
Meanwhile, Orangeburg Prep was able to grind out a solid victory over Palmetto Christian Academy last Friday, taking the game 43-35. Given Orangeburg Prep's advantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 17th, while Palmetto Christian Academy is ranked 67th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Dorchester Academy has been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-7 record this season. As for Orangeburg Prep, they pushed their record up to 17-0 with that win, which was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season.
Dorchester Academy was dealt a bruising 53-24 loss at the hands of Orangeburg Prep in their previous meeting back in January of 2023. Can Dorchester Academy avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
