Old Forge let Joselyn DeStefano and Kate O'Hearn run wild. DeStefano scored four runs and stole a base while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances, while O'Hearn scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances. Those three runs gave O'Hearn a new career-high. Juliette DeStefano was another key player, going 3-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one double.
Old Forge always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .543. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Naples only posted an OBP of .318.
Meanwhile, Palmetto Ridge got the win against Naples on Friday by a conclusive 14-6. Considering the Bears have won four matches by more than seven runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Karsyn Walters and Tessa Delashmet were a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, Walters pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Meanwhile, Delashmet struck out nine batters over five innings while giving up just two earned (and four unearned) runs off two hits (and not a single walk). She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in nine consecutive appearances. At the plate, Walters scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-4, while Delashmet scored a run while going 3-for-5.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Skyler Howell, who scored four runs while getting on base in three of her five plate appearances. She also put up a double, which was her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Rebecca Razzano, who scored four runs while going 2-for-4.
The win got Old Forge back to even at 1-1. As for Palmetto Ridge, the victory got them back to even at 5-5.
Old Forge skirted past Palmetto Ridge 4-3 in their previous meeting back in March of 2024. Does Old Forge have another victory up their sleeve, or will Palmetto Ridge turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
