Waggener is 0-10 against Sacred Heart since February of 2016 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Waggener Wildcats are on the road again and play against the Sacred Heart Valkyries at 6:00 p.m. on December 12th. Waggener will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Kentucky Rankings (they are ranked 192nd, while Sacred Heart is ranked second).
Last Friday, Waggener came up short against Seneca and fell 44-33. Waggener has not had much luck with Seneca recently, as the team's come up short the last four times they've met.
Meanwhile, Sacred Heart put another one in the bag on Sunday to keep their perfect season alive. They put the hurt on Assumption with a sharp 70-50 victory. Sacred Heart might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team's won four contests by 20 points or more this season.
Sacred Heart relied on the efforts of ZaKiyah Johnson, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 11 rebounds, and Angelina Pelayo, who scored 20 points along with 7 rebounds and 5 steals. The game was Pelayo's fifth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Reagan Bender, who scored 14 points along with 5 rebounds.
Their wins bumped Waggener to 1-2 and Seneca to 2-2.
Waggener was taken down by Sacred Heart 79-12 in their previous matchup back in December of 2022. Can Waggener avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
