Tarboro hasn't had much luck against SouthWest Edgecombe recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Tarboro Vikings are taking a road trip to challenge the SouthWest Edgecombe Cougars at 5:00 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Tarboro is headed out to face SouthWest Edgecombe after opening their season at home and giving their fans just what they were looking for. Tarboro put the hurt on Rocky Mount with a sharp 18-9 victory on Tuesday.
Cole Craddock made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched three innings while giving up just one earned run but no hits. That's the fewest hits he has allowed since back in March of 2024. He was even better at the plate, going a perfect 4-for-4 with four runs, four RBI, and one double. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March of 2024.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Mason Satterfield, who scored three runs and stole Two bases. while going 3-for-6. Another player making a difference was Rome Day, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with three RBI.
Meanwhile, SouthWest Edgecombe put another one in the bag on Monday to keep their perfect season alive. They walked away with a 12-9 win over Faith Christian.
Like Tarboro, SouthWest Edgecombe also got a great game from a two-way player: Connor Wolfe. Throwing, Wolfe pitched 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Meanwhile, Parker Gay didn't allow a single earned run while striking out six over four innings pitched. At the plate, Wolfe scored three runs and stole a base, while Gay went 2-for-3 with two RBI and one double.
In other batting news, Tyler Mears was excellent, going 3-for-4 with one double and one RBI. Tyson Ayers was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-4.
Tarboro suffered a grim 15-8 defeat to SouthWest Edgecombe in their previous matchup back in March of 2024. Can Tarboro avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
