Great Bridge is 1-9 against Indian River since November of 2014 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Great Bridge Wildcats will head out on the road to face off against the Indian River Braves at 7:00 p.m. Great Bridge will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Virginia Rankings (they are ranked 199th, while Indian River is ranked 37th).
Last Friday, things could have been worse for Great Bridge, but they could have been a whole lot better as they took a 21-7 loss to Deep Creek. Great Bridge has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Meanwhile, Indian River put the finishing touches on their third blowout victory of the season on Friday. They took their contest at home with ease, bagging a 43-6 win over Western Branch. Indian River didn't have much to brag about two games back, but this win makes it their second in a row.
Deep Creek's win bumped their season record to 4-4 while Great Bridge's loss dropped theirs to 2-6.
Great Bridge was dealt a bruising 40-0 defeat at the hands of Indian River in their previous meeting back in October of 2022. Can Great Bridge avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
