West Lafayette is 2-8 against Benton Central since May of 2018 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit  on Tuesday.   Izzy Ascarelli made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound,   not allowing a single  earned run and  only one  hit while striking out nine over four innings pitched. Ascarelli was also big at the plate,  scoring a  run while going 2-for-4.
 In other batting news,  the team  relied heavily on  Eleanor Hurt, who  scored two  runs while  getting on base  in all three of her plate appearances. Another player making a difference was  Ellie Wilcoxson, who  scored a  run and  stole a base while going 2-for-3.
 Meanwhile, Benton Central had to hit the road for their first game and  sadly it wasn't the result they were hoping for. They fell victim to a  rough 10-0 defeat at the hands of Lebanon  back in March.
 Benton Central saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was  Mariyah Rich, who  went 1-for-1 with a  stolen base.
 West Lafayette's victory bumped their record up to 3-0. As for Benton Central, their loss dropped their record down to 0-1.
 West Lafayette took their  win against Benton Central  when the teams last played  back in May of 2023 by a conclusive  8-0. Does  West Lafayette have another victory up their sleeve, or will Benton Central turn the tables on them?  We'll have the answer soon enough.
