The Atlantic Christian Cougars will challenge The Pilgrim Academy Pioneers at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Atlantic Christian has five straight wins, The Pilgrim Academy has four straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Last Friday, Atlantic Christian needed a bit of extra time to put away The Christian Academy. They came out on top in a nail-biter against The Christian Academy, sneaking past 12-11.

Ava Nixon spent all nine innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and eight unearned) runs on seven hits and racked up 15 Ks. Those 15 strikeouts set a new season-high mark for her.
At the plate, Atlantic Christian let Taylor Sutton and Ashlee Alford run wild. Sutton got on base in all five of her plate appearances with two runs, one double, and one RBI, while Alford went 2-for-5 with two stolen bases and three runs. That's the most stolen bases Alford has posted since back in May of 2024. Another player making a difference was Jojo Weeks, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases and two runs.
Cape May County Tech hit The Pilgrim Academy with a five-run sixth inning on Monday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Pioneers came up short against the Hawks, falling 10-2.
The Pilgrim Academy saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jayden Wolcott, who went 2-for-4 with three stolen bases.
Atlantic Christian's victory bumped their record up to 6-3. As for The Pilgrim Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-9.
The Pilgrim Academy's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Atlantic Christian has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 8.9 hits per game. It's a different story for The Pilgrim Academy, though, as they've been averaging 13 hits. Given Atlantic Christian's sizable advantage in that area, the Pioneers will need to find a way to close that gap.
Atlantic Christian took their win against The Pilgrim Academy in their previous matchup back in April by a conclusive 17-10 score. Will the Cougars repeat their success, or do the Pioneers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
