The Lancaster Bruins will head out on the road to face off against the Northwestern Trojans at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Lancaster is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.5 runs per game this season.
Lancaster's pitching crew heads into the match hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. They blew past Richland Northeast 18-0. The Bruins haven't had any issues with the Cavaliers recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive win against them.
Kaylynn Miller made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. She also tossed two walks, marking her first of the season. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one home run and three RBI.
In other batting news, Kasyah Stover was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-2. She also put up two doubles, which were her first of the season. Sheridyn Mickles was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing Two bases. while going 2-for-2.
Lancaster always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .720. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Northwestern was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They lost 11-3 to Clover.
Northwestern saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Carmen Kelly, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3. Another was Jo Schmidt, who went 1-for-2 with one triple and one run.
Lancaster's record now sits at 3-1. As for Northwestern, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-4.
Northwestern's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Lancaster hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .363. It's a different story for Northwestern, though, as they've only averaged .128. Will they be able to contain Lancaster's hitters?
Everything went Lancaster's way against Northwestern in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, as Lancaster made off with a 13-3 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Lancaster since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
