The Blue Ridge Christian Warriors waltzed into their matchup on Tuesday with three straight wins but they left with four. They walked away with a 57-46 victory over The Daniel Academy. Given Blue Ridge Christian's advantage in MaxPreps' Missouri basketball rankings (they are ranked 138th, while The Daniel Academy is ranked 420th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Blue Ridge Christian got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Mekhi Jones out in front who dropped a double-double on 24 points and 13 rebounds. That makes it six consecutive games in which Jones has scored at least a third of Blue Ridge Christian's points. Pennbrook Shaver was another key contributor, scoring 20 points along with five rebounds and four steals.
Despite the loss, The Daniel Academy still got an impressive performance from Chris W, who dropped a double-double on 22 points and 11 rebounds. W is crushing the rebound category: he's posted at least nine every time he's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Jesse Yap, who scored ten points along with six rebounds and two steals.
Even though they lost, The Daniel Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 18 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Blue Ridge Christian's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-2. As for The Daniel Academy, they now have a losing record at 5-6.
Blue Ridge Christian will head out on the road to challenge Heritage Christian at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Blue Ridge Christian has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. As for The Daniel Academy, they will be playing at home against Whitefield Academy at 7:45 p.m. on Thursday. Hopefully The Daniel Academy focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 14 on Tuesday.
