The Friday Harbor Wolverines's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their third straight loss. They took a 38-32 hit to the loss column at the hands of LaConner. Friday Harbor lost against LaConner in their previous head to head back in February of 2023, too, but the margin this time around was much closer than the 65-18 score last time.
LaConner found their leader in underclassman Maeve Mccormick, who scored 16 points along with nine rebounds and four steals. The match was Mccormick's fourth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Jacqui Lam, who scored eight points along with seven rebounds.
Friday Harbor bumped their record down to 1-3 with that defeat, which was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 27.3 points per game. As for LaConner, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games, which provided a nice bump to their 8-4 record this season.
Friday Harbor is on the road again on Friday and play against Mount Vernon Christian at 4:00 p.m. on January 12th. Mount Vernon Christian presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Friday Harbor in Washington (Mount Vernon Christian is ranked 109th, while Friday Harbor is ranked 294th). As for LaConner, they will be playing in front of their home fans against North Mason at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
