The DuPont Manual Crimsons kicked off their season on the road on Saturday and hit a couple of potholes. They took a 82-74 hit to the loss column at the hands of Great Crossing. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Great Crossing's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Vince Dawson led the charge by scoring 24 points along with 7 rebounds. That makes it two consecutive games in which Dawson has scored at least 25% of Great Crossing's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Junius Burrell, who scored 20 points along with 5 assists and 4 steals.
DuPont Manual's defeat dropped their record down to 0-1. As for Great Crossing, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 2-0.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. DuPont Manual will take on Pleasure Ridge Park at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Great Crossing, they will play host again and welcome Franklin County, where tip off is scheduled for 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
