Basketball Recap: Balboa Takes Down Ranked Prince George's Christian Academy

Balboa is ranked highly in their home state and on Saturday they took on another highly ranked team in the form of Prince George's Christian Academy. Everything went the Balboa Roughriders' way against the Prince George's Christian Academy Flyers as the Balboa Roughriders made off with a 78-54 win. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Roughriders.

Balboa's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Vito Albanese led the charge by going 6 of 13 on his way to 19 points along with six rebounds and three steals. That's the most points Albanese has posted since back in November of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Travis Musonda, who went 8 of 16 on his way to 21 points.

Balboa's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-16. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 25.5 points. As for Prince George's Christian Academy, the loss snapped their winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 14-7 record.

Balboa will be playing in front of their home fans against Southern Coast Academy National at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Southern Coast Academy National knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past 14 contests -- so hopefully Balboa likes a good challenge. As for Prince George's Christian Academy, they will venture away from home to square off against Combine Academy National on Wednesday.
