Dylan Lockwood was huge no matter where he played even without the win. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching three innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off one hit. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one hit in four consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two runs. Bradshaw Mountain is 3-1 when Lockwood posts two or more runs, but 4-12 otherwise.
In other batting news, Ty Young was cooking despite his team's loss, firing off two home runs and six RBI while going 2-for-4. He also scored two runs, which is notable because Bradshaw Mountain is 2-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 5-12 otherwise. Drew Strader was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs.
Meanwhile, Mingus had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 11 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 6-5 W against the Panthers. Surprisingly, this marked the fifth straight game in which the away team has come away the victor in this series.
Carter Wacker was excellent, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.
Mingus' win bumped their record up to 12-9. As for Bradshaw Mountain, they suffered their first home loss, dropping their record down to 7-13.
Bradshaw Mountain skirted past Mingus 7-6 in their previous meeting back in March. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Bears since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
