The East Leopards will take on the Juan Diego Catholic Soaring Eagle at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.
On Wednesday, East needed a bit of extra time to put away Judge Memorial Catholic. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past the Bulldogs 12-11. The game snapped a strange streak: the last four times these teams have met, it?s been the away team that?s taken home the W.

East let Cannon Lunt and Zach Medrano run wild. Lunt got on base in four of his six plate appearances with three stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI, while Medrano went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run and two RBI. East is undefeated when Lunt posts two or more stolen bases, but 3-4 otherwise. Colton Hughes was another key player, going a perfect 1-for-1 with three RBI, one run, and one double.
They weren't the only ones making solid contact: East kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. They are a perfect 7-0 when they post 11 or more hits.
Meanwhile, Juan Diego Catholic entered their tilt with Murray on Wednesday with five consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with six. They blew past the Spartans 12-2. The Soaring Eagle not only won on Wednesday, but they posted their biggest win since March 11th (when they won 15-0).
Beckham Black and Jordan Montoya did most of the damage at the plate: Black went a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI and one run, while Montoya got on base in all four of his plate appearances with four runs and one stolen base. Those four runs gave Montoya a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Kael Buck, who went 1-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base.
East's win bumped their record up to 9-4. As for Juan Diego Catholic, their victory bumped their record up to 7-4.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Friday as neither team is afraid to steal. East has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 5.2 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Juan Diego Catholic struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 2.9 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
East skirted past Juan Diego Catholic 8-6 in their previous matchup back in March of 2016. Do the Leopards have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Soaring Eagle turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
