Cedar Ridge moved up to 269 from 316 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in 2A/1A Carolina 12. A 53-14 win over the Fighting Red Wolves helped the Fighting Red Wolves improve their standing.
Carrboro extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating Chapel Hill, 35-0. The victory was the sixth in a row for the team.
South Granville's dynamic duo of Matt McCutcheon and Ansar Muhammad proved tough for Northeast Guilford to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. McCutcheon threw for 142 yards and one touchdown and Muhammad had 67 yards receiving. Kenny Walls helped South Granville's passing attack out by catching five balls for 37 yards.
Cameron Cooper was the most productive running back in the league this week. In eight carries, he ran for 70 yards as Cedar Ridge lost to the Rams. Hassan Olivo-Sharpe also contributed to the rushing game with nine yards on the ground.
Granville Central's Jay Parker and Bryce Parrott have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading 2A/1A Carolina 12 in both passing and receiving yards. Parker has thrown for 872 yards this season, while Parrott has 21 catches for 245 yards. South Granville's Sean Bowman leads the league in rushing yards with 534.
The top two defenses in the league will face off this season when Mike Hobgood's team takes on Carrboro. The Vikings have allowed 117 points this season, while Jason Tudryn's team has given up 60. South Granville allowed 34 points last week as it fell to Northeast Guilford.
The Jaguars were able to crack the Top 25 in the state rankings this week after beating the Tigers 35-0. Carrboro came in at 25 in the state poll after placing at number 71 last week.
