Southeast Yosemite recap Oct. 16, 2012
Tehachapi extended the longest winning streak in Southeast Yosemite this week by beating Highland, 35-14. This was the team's fourth consecutive win.
Tehachapi moved up to 267 from 315 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in the league. Steve Denman's team was able to make the jump by beating the Scots 35-14.
Garces's dynamic duo of Cruise Adams and Angus Bellue proved tough for North to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Adams threw for 259 yards and three touchdowns and Bellue had 150 yards receiving. Dominic Frasch helped Garces' passing attack out by catching one ball for 60 yards.
Brandon Fanning was the most productive running back in the league this week. In 30 carries, he ran for 222 yards as Foothill defeated the Stars. Teammate Montel Littles added to the ground attack by rushing for 31 yards.
Chris Bueno made the biggest impact on defense this week as East Bakersfield lost to the Trojans. The 5-foot-9 senior recorded one fumble.
Garces' Adams and Bellue have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading Southeast Yosemite in both passing and receiving yards. Adams has thrown for 1581 yards this season, while Bellue, a 6-foot-1 receiver, has 27 catches for 665 yards. Foothill's Fanning leads the league in rushing yards with 1075.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when Mike Gregg's team takes on Jim Maples' team. At the moment, the Trojans are in third, while the Rams are in second.
The top two defenses in the league will face off this season when Foothill takes on Garces. The Trojans have allowed 136 points this season, while the Rams have given up 101. Foothill allowed 20 points last week as it beat the Blades.
