Last Friday, Mill Creek faced Buford in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Mill Creek walked away with a 31-24 victory over Buford.
Mill Creek's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Shane Throgmartin led the charge by throwing for 235 yards and two touchdowns, while also punching in a touchdown on the ground. Mill Creek also got a significant boost from Cameron Robinson, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 98 yards.
Meanwhile, Collins Hill had to endure a four-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They came out on top against Mountain View by a score of 22-14 on Friday.
Alijah Patillo and Chase Nash were among the main playmakers for Collins Hill as the former picked up 93 receiving yards and a touchdown and the latter gained 107 total yards and a touchdown.
Collins Hill's defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB five times. Leading the way was Deuce Geralds and his three sacks.
Mill Creek's win was their 11th straight at home (dating back to last season), bumping their overall record up to 7-0. They've been dominating across those games too: they took their wins by an average of 31 points. As for Collins Hill, their victory on Friday bumped their record up to 2-5.
Everything came up roses for Mill Creek against Collins Hill when the teams last played back in October of 2022 as the squad secured a 54-0 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Mill Creek since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
