The Raymond Central Mustangs will square off against the Douglas County West Falcon at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Raymond Central will be strutting in after a win while Douglas County West will be coming in after a defeat.
Having struggled with six losses in a row, Raymond Central turned things around against Arlington on Monday. They came out on top against the Eagles by a score of 9-4. The Mustangs' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
Owen Kreikemeier made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He pitched 6.1 innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off nine hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing a base while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances.

In other batting news, Tucker Matulka and Dawson Potter did most of the damage at the plate: Matulka scored a run while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances, while Potter scored a run and stole two bases while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances. The dominant performance also gave Matulka a new career-high in RBI (three). Another player making a difference was Wyatt Jelinek, who scored a run and stole three bases while going 1-for-4.
Raymond Central always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .605. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Douglas County West came up short against Gross Catholic on Monday and fell 6-2. The Falcon haven't had much luck with the Cougars recently, as the team has come up short the last four times they've met.
Douglas County West saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Ashton Harlow, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-2.
Douglas County West's defeat dropped their record down to 4-8. As for Raymond Central, their victory bumped their record up to 2-8.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Tuesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Raymond Central has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 4.4 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Douglas County West struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 4.7 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
