After losing to the Silver Lake Mustangs the last time they met, the Kenesaw Blue Devils decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. Kenesaw managed a 36-32 win over Silver Lake on Friday.
Kenesaw can attribute much of their success to Bentley Olson, who scored 13 points along with three steals. Those 13 points set a new season-high mark for her. Ashlyn Hess was another key contributor, scoring six points along with six steals.
Several Mustangs players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Paige Faimon, who scored four points along with three steals. Those three steals set a new season-high mark for her. The team also got some help courtesy of Makenna Karr, who scored seven points along with seven rebounds and three steals.
Even though they lost, Silver Lake were smashing the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Kenesaw only pulled down four offensive rebounds.
The victory got Kenesaw back to even at 3-3. As for Silver Lake, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-2.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Kenesaw will take on Axtell at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Hopefully Axtell focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 24 on Thursday. Silver Lake will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Pleasanton at 6:00 p.m. on January 2, 2024.
