The Ponaganset Chieftains won the last time they faced the Rogers Vikings, and things went their way on Friday too. Ponaganset simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Vikings 55-23 at home. Given Ponaganset's advantage in MaxPreps' Rhode Island basketball rankings (they are ranked tenth, while the Vikings are ranked 48th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Ponaganset's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jaina Yekelchik, who scored nine points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kelsey L'heureux, who scored five points along with three blocks.
