Basketball Recap: Wakulla Christian School Snaps Eight-Game Streak of Losses at Home

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Wakulla Christian School). They narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Community Christian Chargers 64-62. The high-flying offensive performance was a huge turnaround for the Saints considering their 21-point performance the game before.

Wakulla Christian School was led to victory by Hunter Bourgeois and Jackson Lawhon. Bourgeois dropped a double-double on 25 points and 17 rebounds, while Lawhon posted 26 points. Those 26 points gave Lawhon a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Kory Paynter, who put up three points in addition to 13 rebounds and three blocks.

Community Christian's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Garry Harnden, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 12 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Shane Pohler, who had 13 points and seven assists.

Wakulla Christian School's victory ended an eight-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 1-3. As for Community Christian, they are on a five-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-3.

Wakulla Christian School didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, an 81-46 loss against Wewahitchka on the 5th. As for Community Christian, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 90-33 defeat against Munroe on the 5th.
