After four games on the road, McEachern is heading back home. They will be home for the holidays to greet the Our Lady of Good Counsel Falcons at 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in their respective states (McEachern is ranked 23rd in Georgia, while Our Lady of Good Counsel is ranked 39th in Maryland).
Winning is just a little bit easier when you work as a team to rack up nine more assists than your opponent, a fact McEachern proved on Friday. They breezed by Marietta on the road to the tune of 63-27. The matchup was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 36-8.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead McEachern to victory, but perhaps none more so than Jada Bates, who scored 17 points. That's the first time this season that Bates scored 15 or more points. The team also got some help courtesy of Amanda Eziukwu, who scored 14 points along with six rebounds.
Meanwhile, Our Lady of Good Counsel's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Sunday after their third straight loss. They took a 48-41 hit to the loss column at the hands of Tournament Opponent. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Our Lady of Good Counsel has scored all season.
Talayah Walker put forth a good effort for the losing side as she scored 16 points. She scored a full 39% of Our Lady of Good Counsel's points, the fourth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Caliyah Devillasee was another key contributor, scoring nine points.
McEachern's win was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 5-2. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 57.6 points per game. As for Our Lady of Good Counsel, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-4.
Wednesday's match is shaping up to be a scrappy game: McEachern have been smashing the glass this season, having only averaged 36.6 rebounds per game. It's a different story for Our Lady of Good Counsel, though, as they've been averaging only 9.4 rebounds per game. Given McEachern's sizeable advantage in that area, Our Lady of Good Counsel will need to find a way to close that gap.
