It was a good run, but the Alexandria-Monroe Tigers unfortunately witnessed the end of their five-game winning streak on Saturday. They received a tough blow as they fell 48-31 to Lapel. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Alexandria-Monroe has scored all season.
When it comes to explaining why Alexandria-Monroe lost, one person who can't be blamed is Jacklynn Hosier. Despite the final result, she scored 15 points along with five rebounds. Hosier scored a full 48.4% of Alexandria-Monroe's points, the 18th time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.
It was another big night for Laniah Wills, who dropped a double-double on 25 points and 16 rebounds for Lapel. The game was Wills' 17th in a row with at least ten points. Madelyn Poynter was another key contributor, scoring 13 points.
Alexandria-Monroe's defeat dropped their record down to 14-4. As for Lapel, they pushed their record up to 14-3 with that victory, which was their third straight at home.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Alexandria-Monroe will take on Elwood at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Elwood will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Indiana Rankings (they are ranked 364th, while Alexandria-Monroe is ranked 89th). As for Lapel, they will head out on the road to face off against Blackford at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Blackford focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 11 on Saturday.
