Fremont has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will face off against the Davis Darts at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, both teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Last Friday, things could have been worse for Fremont, but they could have been a whole lot better as they took a 82-65 loss to Layton. While losing is never fun, Fremont can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Utah basketball rankings (they are ranked 34th, while Layton is ranked fifth).
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the most dominant came from Tyler Allen, who scored 15 points along with five rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Hunter Hansen, who scored 16 points along with eight rebounds.
Meanwhile, Davis waltzed into their contest on Friday with two straight wins but they left with three. They were the clear victor by a 80-58 margin over Weber. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest victory Davis has posted since December 15, 2023.
Davis' success was spearheaded by the efforts of Zach Fisher, who scored 22 points along with eight rebounds, and Coleman Atwater, who scored 24 points along with seven rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Atwater has scored all season. Tradon Bessinger was another key contributor, scoring nine points.
Fremont's defeat dropped their record down to 10-8. As for Davis, they have been performing well recently as they've won nine of their last 11 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 13-5 record this season.
Friday's contest is shaping up to be a masterclass in shooting: Fremont have been dynamite from deep this season, having made 46% of their threes per game. However, it's not like Davis struggles in that department as they've made 48.4% of their threes per game this season. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
Fremont came up short against Davis when the teams last played on January 12th, falling 66-54. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Davis' Caleb Taylor, who scored ten points along with six assists and six steals. Now that Fremont knows the damage he can cause, will they be able to stop him this time? There's only one way to find out.
