Basketball Game Preview: Poudre Impalas vs. Timnath Cubs

After both having extra time off, the Poudre Impalas and the Timnath Cubs will shake off the cobwebs and face off against one another at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday.

Poudre is probably headed into the match with a chip on their shoulder considering Vista Ridge just ended the team's three-game winning streak last Saturday. They took a 53-40 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Wolves.

Poudre might have lost, but man, Luke Foster was a machine: he went 9 of 15 en route to 24 points along with eight rebounds and four steals. Foster's morning made it five games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Blake Brewster, who posted nine points.

Meanwhile, Timnath blew past Pine Bluffs, posting a 61-33 victory. The win was all the more spectacular given the Cubs' disadvantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 134th in Colorado, while the Hornets are ranked 34th in Wyoming).

Poudre better focus on containing Max Roselle and Jack Hemme as the pair were huge in Timnath's win. Roselle went 5 of 10 on his way to 11 points and eight rebounds, while Hemme had ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Daryan Shaw, who posted five points.

Timnath smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive boards they've posted since back in January of 2024.

Poudre's loss dropped their record down to 3-5. As for Timnath, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 3-3.

Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Poudre has crashing the boards this season, having averaged 26.9 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Timnath struggles in that department as they've been averaging 31.2 boards.
