Two dominant guards in Mariah Jones-Bey and Ava Redmond are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. Having just played yesterday, the Pikesville Panthers will jump right back in to play the Flowers Jaguars at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday. Pikesville is looking to tack on another W to their 16-game streak on the road dating back to last season.
In what's become a running theme this season, Pikesville gave their fans yet another huge win on Friday. They breezed by Sparrows Point at home to the tune of 84-30. With Pikesville ahead 48-20 at the half, the contest was all but over already.
Pikesville's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Bree Taylor, who scored 18 points along with two steals. Another player making a difference was Jones-Bey, who scored 13 points along with five steals.
Meanwhile, Flowers put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They enjoyed a cozy 48-31 win over Suitland. Given Flowers' advantage in MaxPreps' Maryland basketball rankings (they are ranked 26th, while the Rams are ranked 94th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Pikesville has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten games, which provided a nice bump to their 14-3 record this season. As for Flowers, their victory bumped their record up to 14-0.
Pikesville came up short against the Jaguars in their previous meeting back in February of 2023, falling 52-46. Can Pikesville avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
