Softball Recap: Point Loma Picks Up Third Consecutive Victory

Point Loma made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Brawley, but they still couldn't quite topple them. Point Loma was the clear victor by a 9-1 margin over Brawley on Saturday. The victory was familiar territory for the Pointers, who have now won three matchups in a row.

Ryoko Schroth made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching five innings while giving up just one earned run off five hits. What's more, she posted four strikeouts, the most she's had since back in May of 2024. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two RBI.

In other batting news, Point Loma let Annika Isaacson and Avery MacPherson run wild. Isaacson scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4, while MacPherson scored three runs while going 2-for-3. That's the most runs MacPherson has posted since back in April of 2024. Leyton MacPherson was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one RBI.

Point Loma was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .458. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Point Loma's record now sits at 8-2-1. As for Brawley, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-6.

Point Loma has already played their next contest, a 14-2 win against Mar Vista on the 22nd. As for Brawley, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 4-0 loss against El Capitan on the 22nd.
