The South Bulldogs pushed their score all the way to 59 on Saturday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell just short of Lincoln by a score of 62-59. While losing is never fun, South can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 145th, while Lincoln is ranked 28th).
When it comes to explaining why South lost, one person who can't be blamed is Lajames Washington. Despite the final result, he scored 25 points. Maurice Mccall was another key contributor, scoring nine points.
South's loss ended a five-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 0-1. As for Lincoln, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 2-0.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. South will take on Beechcroft at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Beechcroft focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 21 on Saturday. As for Lincoln, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Westerville North at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
