Baseball Game Preview: Morrison Mustangs vs. Ashton-Franklin Center Raiders

For the second straight game, Morrison will face off against Ashton-Franklin Center. The Mustangs will take on the Raiders at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Morrison is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.1 runs per game this season.

Ashton-Franklin Center will be up against a hot Morrison squad: the team just extended their winning streak to three. The Mustangs came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 10-9 W against the Raiders. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Mustangs have posted since March 15, 2024.

Ayden Meinsma made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over five innings while giving up just two earned (and four unearned) runs off six hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in six consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

In other batting news, Kamden White was incredible, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last four games he's played. Collin Renkes was another key player, going 2-for-5 with two RBI and one run.

Morrison's victory bumped their record up to 9-7. As for Ashton-Franklin Center, their defeat dropped their record down to 14-9.

The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Thursday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Morrison has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 8.3 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Ashton-Franklin Center struggles in that department as they've been averaging 7.4 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
