The Elizabeth Minutemen will head out on the road to take on the Hillsborough Raiders at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.
Elizabeth was handed a 20-point loss in their previous outing, but they didn't let that bad energy affect their game against Union Catholic on Wednesday. Elizabeth came out on top in a nail-biter against Union Catholic and snuck past 55-52. The win was just what Elizabeth needed coming off of a 54-34 defeat in their prior contest.
Elizabeth got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Jah'nae Lembrick out in front who scored 17 points along with six assists and six rebounds. Alexandra Koon was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 18 points and ten rebounds.
Meanwhile, after a string of three wins, Hillsborough's good fortune finally ran out on Tuesday. They took a 61-56 hit to the loss column at the hands of Franklin.
Elizabeth's victory bumped their record up to 13-9. As for Hillsborough, their loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 13-7.
Elizabeth came up short against Hillsborough in their previous meeting back in January of 2022, falling 65-56. Can Elizabeth avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
