GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. -
Grand Junction (Colo.) had a comfortable lead entering the fourth quarter, but used three fourth quarter points to seal the 32-8 victory over
Westminster (Colo.).
After taking the lead on a two-point conversion in the second quarter, the Tigers led 12-9 at the half.
Grand Junction expanded its lead to 19 points entering the fourth quarter. GJ scored two times in the third, including once on a
Tyler Heinsma touchdown run.
Westminster's only touchdown came on a 2-yard run by
Alfred Ramos in the second quarter.
Coming into the game the Tigers had allowed 26.7 points per game this year. Grand Junction held firm on the defensive front, and kept the Wolves well below the 28.5 points it had been averaging per game.
The defeat comes as a step back for Westminster, which notched a 46-14 victory over Northglenn in its previous outing. The win brought Grand Junction's winning streak to three games. The loss broke Westminster's three-game winning streak.
