The Overhills Jaguars waltzed into their contest on Friday with three straight wins but they left with four. They came out on top against Pine Forest by a score of 49-37. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Overhills also won the last time the pair played back in February of 2023.
Eva Mcrae continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, dropping a double-double on 24 points and 13 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points she has scored all season. Sadyia Davis was another key contributor, scoring six points along with ten rebounds.
When it comes to explaining why Pine Forest lost, one person who can't be blamed is Chloe Wilson. Despite the final result, she scored 15 points along with eight rebounds and five steals. Wilson hasn't dropped below two steals for seven straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Janaea Conley, who scored four points along with four steals.
Even though they lost, Pine Forest smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 21 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Overhills only pulled down nine offensive rebounds.
Overhills has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven games, which provided a massive bump to their 8-6 record this season. As for Pine Forest, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 7-9.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Overhills will face off against Terry Sanford at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Terry Sanford presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Overhills in North Carolina (Terry Sanford is ranked 26th, while Overhills is ranked 216th). As for Pine Forest, they will head out on the road to face off against Purnell Swett at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Purnell Swett is out to stop a three-game streak of losses at home.
