The North Marion Colts will take on the Trinity Christian Academy Conquerors at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. North Marion is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.6 runs per game this season.
North Marion is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to ten runs on Tuesday, they were much more limited against Keystone Heights on Thursday. They fell just short of the Indians by a score of 2-1. The Colts haven't had much luck with the Indians recently, as the team has come up short the last four times they've met.
North Marion got a good showing from Lucas Nichols, who pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Nichols has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two hits any time he's pitched this season.
At the plate, North Marion saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Rowan Quartararo, who scored a run while going 1-for-3. Trenton Ramsey also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.
Meanwhile, Trinity Christian Academy was able to grind out a solid win over University Christian on Thursday, taking the game 5-2. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Conquerors.
Trinity Christian Academy also got a great performance from Aaron Watson as he struck out ten batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Gage Petrutz, who scored a run while going 3-for-4. What's more, he posted three hits, the most he's had since back in April of 2024. Brady Harris #2 was another key player, scoring a run while going 1-for-3.
Trinity Christian Academy's victory was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 2-0. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.1 runs over those games. As for North Marion, their loss dropped their record down to 3-2.
North Marion suffered a grim 12-2 defeat to Trinity Christian Academy in their previous meeting back in March of 2024. Will North Marion have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check back here after the action for a full breakdown and analysis of the contest.
