Basketball Recap: Six Straight Home Wins for Indian Land

There's no place like home for Indian Land, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Saturday. They walked away with a 67-56 win over the Rock Hill Bearcats on Friday. Given the Warriors' advantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked sixth, while the Bearcats are ranked 135th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Leading Indian Land to victory were Michael Jones and Sequel Patterson. Jones went 8 of 17 en route to 21 points and three steals, while Patterson went 6 of 12 on his way to 14 points and five steals. The matchup was Jones' 20th in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Brent Michael Terrell, who posted eight points and eight rebounds.

Indian Land was working as a unit and finished the game with ten assists. They are a perfect 4-0 when they've passed the ball that well.

Despite the loss, Rock Hill saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Nigel Lightner had 15 points. That's the most points Lightner has posted since back in November of 2023. Another player making a difference was Kaiden Watkins, who put up ten points.

Indian Land's victory was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 13-1. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 70.2 points per game. As for Rock Hill, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-8.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Indian Land will venture away from home to take on Nation Ford at 7:45 p.m. on Tuesday. Nation Ford will roll in looking for their fifth straight win, something Indian Land surely won't give up without a fight. As for Rock Hill, they will head out to square off against Fort Mill at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Rock Hill is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 59.6 points per game this season.
