Basketball Game Preview: Charlotte Elite Academy Soldiers vs. Winston Salem Christian Lions

The Charlotte Elite Academy Soldiers will venture away from home to face off against the Winston Salem Christian Lions at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, both will really light up the scoreboard.

Last Monday, Charlotte Elite Academy was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 67-62 to Lake Norman Christian. Even though they lost, the Soldiers' still made a splash on offense and bumped their average scoring up to 51 points per game (they're now ranked -1th in scoring overall).

Despite their defeat, Charlotte Elite Academy saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Deshaun Nicholson, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 14 boards, was perhaps the best of all. With that strong performance, Nicholson is now averaging an impressive 8.4 rebounds per game. The team also got some help courtesy of Antoine Boone, who almost dropped a double-double on 11 points and nine blocks.

Even though they lost, Charlotte Elite Academy was working as a unit and finished the game with 16 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Meanwhile, Winston Salem Christian waltzed into their contest back in December of 2024 with two straight wins... but they left with three. They walked away with a 75-68 victory over the Warriors.

Winston Salem Christian's win was their 12th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 7-2. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 73.1 points per game. As for Charlotte Elite Academy, they now have a losing record at 4-5.

Charlotte Elite Academy took a serious blow against Winston Salem Christian when the teams last played back in February of 2024, falling 88-54. Can Charlotte Elite Academy avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
