St. Mary will head out on the road to face off against Grace Academy at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. St. Mary's comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 25 points in their last three games, a trend the squad is of course eager to reverse.
Last Friday, St. Mary's was beaten by Sterling Classical 60-21. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points St. Mary's has scored all season.
Grace Academy suffered their closest defeat yet this season on Friday. They fell just short of Providence Prep by a score of 53-51. Grace Academy has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Despite their loss, Grace Academy saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Richmond McIver, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 18 rebounds, was perhaps the best of all. McIver hasn't dropped below eight rebounds for seven straight games. Another player making a difference was Evan Hoyt, who scored 13 points along with six rebounds.
Even though they lost, Grace Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Providence Prep only pulled down five offensive rebounds.
St. Mary's defeat dropped their record down to 3-3. As for Grace Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 9-9.
St. Mary's suffered a grim 52-27 defeat to Grace Academy in their previous matchup back in February of 2023. Can St. Mary's avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
