For the first time this season, Healdsburg will have a chance to prove themselves in a conference matchup on Friday. They will be playing at home against the Montgomery Vikings at 6:00 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Healdsburg has three straight wins, Montgomery has nine straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Healdsburg lost a heartbreaker the last time they played Cloverdale, but it's fair to say they got their revenge given the result of Tuesday's match. Healdsburg's pitchers stepped up to hand Cloverdale an 11-0 shutout on Tuesday. With that victory, the Greyhounds brought their scoring average up to 6.5 runs per game.

Henry Smith was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Smith was even better at the plate, scoring a run and stealing Two bases. while going 4-for-4. Those four hits gave him a new career-high.
In other pitching news, Eric Nielsen tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out 11 over 4.1 innings pitched. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in strikeouts.
Back at the plate, Healdsburg let Xander Harms and Hayden Mariani run wild. Harms scored two runs while going 2-for-4, while Mariani scored three runs while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances. What's more, Mariani posted two RBI, the most he's had since back in February of 2024. Vinny Loupy was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing Two bases. while going 1-for-3.
Healdsburg kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their hit total in three consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, Montgomery didn't have quite enough to beat Bishop Manogue on Saturday and fell 10-9.
Healdsburg's win bumped their record up to 3-1. As for Montgomery, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-3.
Healdsburg came out on top in a nail-biter against Montgomery when the teams last played back in May of 2024, sneaking past 1-0. Does Healdsburg have another victory up their sleeve, or will Montgomery turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
