VISFA Patriot recap Oct. 9, 2012
Fredericksburg Christian extended the longest winning streak in VISFA Patriot this week by beating Hargrave Military Academy, 42-6. The victory was the sixth in a row for Fredericksburg Christian.
Massanutten Military Academy took down Carson Long Military Academy 70-0 last week, the largest margin of any game. Kenya Ray-Abrams threw for 235 yards and five touchdowns and ran for 61 yards in the win.
Mike Poillon was the most productive running back in the league this week. In 22 carries, he ran for 129 yards as Fishburne Military beat the Warriors. Teammate Jon Ross added to the ground attack by rushing for 29 yards.
Fulgham was the best wideout in the league this week as Massanutten Military Academy topped Carson Long Military Academy. Fulgham tallied three receptions for 162 yards. Chase McDevitt helped Massanutten Military Academy's passing attack out by catching two balls for 24 yards.
Chris Gilliland's team's Ray-Abrams and Fulgham have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading VISFA Patriot in both passing and receiving yards. Ray-Abrams has thrown for 1328 yards this season, while Fulgham, a 6-foot-3 receiver, has 36 catches for 873 yards. Poillon from the Caissons leads the league in rushing with 414 yards.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when the Colonels take on Fishburne Military. Massanutten Military Academy is in fourth place, while Dan Baranik's team is in third place.
The Colonels led the league in scoring this week after putting up 70 points on Pete Lasavage's team. Ray-Abrams in the win.
