The Greenfield Yellowjackets will venture away from home to face off against the Madison Mustangs at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Greenfield is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9 runs per game this season.
On Tuesday, Greenfield made easy work of Liberty Tech Magnet and carried off an 18-4 win. The victory continues a trend for the Yellowjackets in their matchups with the Crusaders: they've now won five in a row.

Will Edwards made a splash no matter where he played. He struck out six batters over two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and only one walk). He has been consistent: he hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in seven consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with one double and one RBI.
In other pitching news, Trey Morris looked comfortable as he tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off four hits. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (four).
Back at the plate, Easton Sullivan was incredible, getting on base in all five of his plate appearances with one home run and four RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March of 2024. Another player making a difference was Baylor Vujicic, who went 2-for-4 with four RBI and two runs.
Meanwhile, Madison was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their sixth straight defeat. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 6-5 heartbreaker at the hands of Scotts Hill.
Ryker Stegall was cooking despite his team's loss, going 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. Madison is 2-1 when Stegall posts one or more home runs, but 10-11-1 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Garrett Clark, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
Greenfield's record is now 17-4. As for Madison, their loss dropped their record down to 12-12-1.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Thursday as neither team is afraid to steal. Greenfield has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.4 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Madison struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 4.4 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Greenfield might still be hurting after the 11-5 defeat they got from Madison in their previous meeting back in March. Can the Yellowjackets avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
