Volleyball Recap: Lincoln North Star Takes a Loss

If Lincoln North Star was feeling good fresh off their 3-0 takedown of Lincoln Northeast on Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Navigators took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Millard North Mustangs on Saturday. The Navigators have struggled against the Mustangs recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.

Lincoln North Star started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. The final score came out to 20-25, 25-20, 25-23, 25-20.

Despite the defeat, Lincoln North Star saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Marie Paneitz had eight digs and three aces. Paneitz is on a roll when it comes to aces, as she's now served two or more in each of the last four games she's played.

Leading Millard North to victory were Marley Tracy and Hayden Sliva. Tracy had seven digs and three aces, while Sliva had 14 digs and two assists. Those seven digs gave Tracy a new career-high.

Lincoln North Star's loss dropped their record down to 23-4. As for Millard North, their victory bumped their record up to 12-13.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Lincoln North Star is set to challenge their familiar foe Lincoln Southeast at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Millard North will face off against rival Millard West on Tuesday.
