Softball Recap: Unionville Wins Going Away Against Kennett

Unionville won the last time they faced Kennett and things went their way on Monday too. The Longhorns blew past the Blue Demons 14-4. Considering the Longhorns have won seven contests by more than eight runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

Unionville got a massive performance out of Shannon Megill, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and one double. Those four RBI gave Megill a new career-high. Brooke Donnelly was another key player, going 3-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and one double.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Unionville kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in four consecutive games.

Unionville is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-7 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 4.0 runs on average over those games. As for Kennett, they dropped their record down to 5-12 with the defeat, which was their seventh straight at home.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Unionville is set to challenge their familiar foe Bayard Rustin at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Meanwhile, Kennett will take on rival Sun Valley at 3:45 p.m. on Wednesday.
