The Bard Falcons will be staying on the road on Friday to face off against the Coolidge Colts at 5:30 p.m. on February 9th. Bard comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 18 points in their last eight games, a trend the team is of course eager to reverse.
Last Monday, Bard faced Dunbar in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Bard was dealt a 90-6 loss at the hands of Dunbar. Bard has struggled against Dunbar recently, as their match on Monday was their third consecutive lost matchup.
Meanwhile, Coolidge entered their tilt with Ballou with four consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with five. Coolidge claimed a resounding 52-6 victory over Ballou on the road. Coolidge has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven matches by 25 points or more this season.
Coolidge got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Jaylyn Derricott out in front who scored 14 points along with five rebounds and three steals. Derricott is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Mariyah Wilson, who scored 11 points along with five steals.
Bard dropped their record down to 0-8 with that defeat, which was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Coolidge, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten matchups, which provided a massive bump to their 12-8 record this season.
Bard took a serious blow against Coolidge in their previous meeting back in January of 2023, falling 65-6. Can Bard avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
