The Croatan Cougars fell on hard times earlier this season, but after back-to-back wins it seems like their luck might finally be changing. They secured a 21-17 W over Dixon on Friday. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Croatan also won the last time the pair played back in October of 2022.
Croatan's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Coleman Davis, who threw for 81 yards and two touchdowns on only four passes.
Despite the loss, Dixon still got an impressive performance from Jziah Hinton, who rushed for 175 yards and a touchdown, and also threw for 70 yards and a touchdown while completing 100% of his passes. Hinton is on a roll when it comes to rushing yards, as he's now rushed for 100 or more in the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Brayden Anderson - Sidbury, who gained 100 total yards and a touchdown.
Croatan's win bumped their record up to 5-5. As for Dixon, their loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 4-6.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Croatan will take on West Carteret at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Dixon, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Richlands at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
