The Biggersville Lions will head out to face off against the Kossuth Aggies at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Having struggled with three defeats in a row, Biggersville turned things around against Alcorn Central on Saturday. They blew past the Bears 12-2.
Carsen Price was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he tossed 4.2 innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits. Price was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. Biggersville is undefeated when Price posts two or more runs, but 5-7 otherwise.

In other batting news, Jaden Clifton was a standout: he went 3-for-4 with three runs and three RBI. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. Josh Hinton also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.
Biggersville kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in 11 consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, Kossuth made easy work of Mantachie on Thursday and carried off a 16-5 win. The Aggies haven't had any issues with the Mustangs recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive victory against them.
Like Biggersville, Kossuth also got a great game from a two-way player: Ayden Wilbanks. He struck out six batters over six innings while giving up three earned (and two unearned) runs off four hits. Wilbanks has been consistent recently: he hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one double.
In other pitching news, Baylor Kelly looked comfortable as he pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances.
Back at the plate, Kossuth got a massive performance out of Ethan Killough, who got on base in all five of his plate appearances with one home run, three runs, and one stolen base. Noah Caldwell was another key player, going 3-for-4 with three stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs.
Biggersville's record is now 10-7. As for Kossuth, their record now sits at 14-3.
Monday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Biggersville hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .335. However, it's not like Kossuth struggles in that department as they've averaged .351. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Biggersville couldn't quite finish off Kossuth in their previous matchup back in February of 2021 and fell 7-5. Can the Lions avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
