Baseball Recap: Tuesday's Defeat Ends Bullitt East's Winning Streak

Bullitt East dropped their record down to 17-4-1 on Tuesday, which also ended the team's eight-game streak of wins. They fell just short of the Holy Cross Cougars by a score of 9-8. The Chargers were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Cougars earlier this season, when they won 13-2.

Colin Feger made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 3-for-5 with three RBI and one run. Hunter Holland was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

As for Holy Cross, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-13 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.5 runs over those games.

On Holy Cross' side, Tyler Manning was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run over 5.1 innings pitched. Manning was also big at the plate, getting on base in five of his six plate appearances with one run, one double, and one RBI. What's more, he posted three hits, the most he's had since back in May of 2024.

In other batting news, Mason Lanham and Noah Basham did most of the damage at the plate: Lanham went 4-for-5 with three runs, while Basham got on base in four of his six plate appearances with one run and one RBI. Lanham has become a key player for Holy Cross: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 4-13 otherwise.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Bullitt East will welcome Eastern at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Holy Cross, they will be playing in front of their home fans against W.E.B. DuBois Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Lions have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 8.82 runs per game on average), something the Cougars will no doubt try to take advantage of.
