The Broughton Capitals pushed their score all the way to 58 on Friday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 63-58 hit to the loss column at the hands of Heritage. Broughton has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Broughton lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Jordan Page, who scored 19 points along with eight rebounds and two steals. Page has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more points the last four times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Harrison Peatross, who scored ten points along with five assists and five rebounds.
Heritage's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Levi Beckwith led the charge by dropping a double-double on 18 points and 14 rebounds. Beckwith is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as he's now pulled down eight or more in the last six games he's played. Another player making a difference was Ryder Strand, who scored 12 points along with eight rebounds and two steals.
Broughton has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost seven of their last nine contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-9 record this season. As for Heritage, they pushed their record up to 8-5 with that win, which was their fourth straight on the road.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Broughton the luxury of staying home another game and will welcome Leesville Road at 6:30 p.m. on January 16th. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in North Carolina (Leesville Road is ranked 225th, while Broughton is ranked 214th). As for Heritage, they will be playing at home against Millbrook at 7:45 p.m. on Tuesday.
